1. Pamukkale, Turkey

Hot springs in Turkey are actually rare. This one, named Pamukkale or “Cotton Castle” in English, is found in the Denizli Province in the Inner Aegean region in the beautiful River Menderes Valley. This is considered to be the most unique hot spring on the planet.

It also features 17 terraces of carbonate minerals that create separate infinity pools. The blue water seen against the surprisingly bright white rocks may give you the impression that the water is ice cold but, of course, it’s not. You can visit this official UNESCO World Heritage Site almost any time of the year because the area has a temperate climate.

2. The Szechenyi Thermal Bath, Hungary

The Szechenyi Thermal Bath and Pools is an exceptional “mixed bathing complex.” It can be found in the favored City Park in the stunning city of Budapest. It includes a total of 18 pools: a fitness pool, plunge pools, steam baths, thermal pools and more.

Both men and women can use any of these facilities. Children must be at least 14 years old to visit. The geothermal medicinal bath is actually over a century old. The water here comes from a pair of thermal springs. Those in the know confirm that it is the largest, most popular. and the most-visited bath palace in all of Budapest.

3. The Aix-les-Bains Riviera of the Alps, France

Some travel experts say the world-famous Aix les Bains Riviera des Alpes is one of the best spa destinations in the world. It often receives excellent ratings and is praised for the hot springs around which it was developed. The brimstone-rich water and what some call “natural medicine” can provide visitors a feeling of physical regeneration.

It offers individuals the opportunity to connect with nature, completely relax, and just maybe experience a moment of self-realization as well. The people on staff there promote it as simply “well-being by water.” This place has earned the city frequent slot on many “top resort” lists.

5. The Moorish Bath, Spain

You will find the ancient Moorish Bath the largest city of autonomous Andalusia in Seville, Spain. Here you can have a nice, relaxing swim in what veteran visitors often refer to as one of the capital city’s most marvelous hot spots. This historic bath was actually restored some time in the 1500s.

Those who have been say it is both extraordinary and fascinating. Visitors are also encouraged to stop by the popular Moorish Hammam Aire de Sevilla, situated in the very center of Santa Cruz. Some even refer to it as a veritable “oasis.”

6. The Cave Bath, Hungary

The famous Cave Bath is an exceptional thermal bath ensconced in a large natural cave in Miskolctapolca, in the Hungarian city of Miskolc. The temperature of the healthy thermal water here is reported to be 30 degrees Celsius (or 86 degrees Fahrenheit). It has a significantly lower salt content than other thermal water (approximately 1000 mg per liter).

Those who have been, report that it is especially good for reducing pain in the joints. You can bathe in this water for a longer period of time, usually as long as you want. The best time to visit the Cave Bath is basically any time but during the month of January. .

7. The Blue Lagoon, Iceland

Not to be confused with the 1980 motion picture of the same name, this well-known Blue Lagoon is a geothermal spa and one of the country’s most visited attractions. The popular geothermal bathing spot can be found in southwestern Iceland in a specific lava field in the fishing village of Grindavík on the Reykjanes Peninsula. It is 39 kilometers away from Reykjavik, the capital or about

12 miles from the Keflavik International Airport. The heated waters are rich in such minerals as sulfur and silica and thus have a reputation to be good for those who have such skin diseases as Psoriasis. In fact, there’s a skin ailments research facility on site.

8. The Terme di Saturnia, Italy

Finally, there’s the popular Terme di Saturnia are actually a group of hot springs situated in the municipality of Manciano, only a couple of kilometers from the Italian village known as Saturnia. The source springs that fill the baths are located in the beautiful south-eastern valley. According to both ancient Roman and Etruscan legend, the famous Terme di Saturnia were created by powerful lightning bolts, thrown to Earth by the god Jupiter. He was having a very violent argument with his father, the god Saturn. The lightning bolts thrown at Saturn missed the intended target and hit the ground thus giving birth to these memorable formations.
