3National Museum of Natural History, Washington DC

Another Smithsonian intuition, the National Museum of Natural History is one the United States’ most popular museums, with the visitor count touching 7.3 million in 2014. The free public access museum was established in the early 20th century and features over 126 million specimens ranging from cultural artworks to natural specimens (insects, plants, fish and more). You can see 400,000 photographs along with the museum’s largest exhibit, a 45 foot replica of the North Atlantic Whale. \
