According to recent research, a lot of people currently book their trips based on what they see on social media. Of course, social media appears to be especially prone to inducing envy since there is always someone on there that seems to be constantly on vacation.

You probably know someone like that. Maybe we all do. That one person who always appears to never be at home but instead is off every weekend on a trip somewhere.

Every Christmas that person is on the beach of some Caribbean island sucking down some fancy tropical drink with an umbrella in it. It can make you sick, too, right?

1. The Northern Lights, Iceland

The Northern Lights are world famous. In fact, Iceland is a popular choice for numerous travelers hoping to see the beautiful Aurora Borealis. Also known as the Northern Lights, the Aurora Borealis is an incredible natural phenomenon that shimmers across the sky on dark, clear nights.

Your best chance to see this elusive light show is between September and late March. If you visit in November you can attend Iceland Airwaves, a five-day festival of EDM, rock, and just plain partying.
