2Bagan, Myanmar

This temple town in Myanmar attracts hordes of culture, religion and archeology buffs for its diverse and fascinating structures. The erstwhile capital of an ancient dynasty, the town features 26 square miles demarcated as “Bagan Archeological Zone” with the tranquil Irrawaddy River drifting alongside the temples.

Owing to its magnificent architectural and archeological delights, Bagan is a photographer’s delight. What adds to the charm of the place is that locals are friendly and welcoming, but you’ll have to watch out for hard sell in the form of postcards and other merchandise sold by locals in and around the more touristy patches of this temple town.
