4Angkor Wat, Cambodia

Angkor Wat was the erstwhile kingdom of the famed Khmer Empire that ruled over a major part of Southeast Asia. Though its dominance declined gradually, there’s no dearth of remnants belonging to that era in the form of phenomenally beautiful temples and architectural structures in the midst of flourishing jungles. Head to the north or south regions instead of the main temple entrance, which is far more crowded and touristy. Arrive early in the day and opt for the multi-day pass to get a wholesome overview of this exquisite historical site.
