3Petra, Jordan

After it attained legendary status post the Indiana Jones film, the world’s oldest existing city was discovered by a European explorer in 1812 who trailed native tribes. The erstwhile forgotten city is now the hub of heritage and historical tourism for its famous walls and old-worldly cobbled streets. The earliest settlers here date as far back as the 6- 7 th century BC, while today Petra is a UNESCO World Heritage Site and named one of the New Seven Wonders of the World.
