Mastercard recently released its yearly Global Destination Cities Index. The index measures the amount of travel or visitor volume to and throughout 162 cities across the globe. Scored by the projected amount of international visitors, here are the most visited cities in the world in 2018.

20. Bali, Indonesia

The Indonesian province of Bali has 8.43 million international visitors annually. It’s the westernmost island of the popular Lesser Sunda Islands. The province includes the neighboring, smaller isles of Nusa Ceningan, Nusa Lembongan, and Nusa Penida. Bali is famous for its exotic foods, noteworthy markets, beautiful waters, and unique wildlife. Honeymooners enjoy the south part of Bali where the resorts are located and there’s a solid Western influence in Seminyak or Nusa Dua. To experience the isle in its original form, spend a few days in the northern section and visit Uluwatu or Ubud.

19. Osaka, Japan

Every year 8.78 million visitors worldwide visit this city situated in Japan’s Kansai region. It’s the capital city of the Osaka Prefecture, the second-largest metropolis in the country and one of the world’s largest urban areas. There are over 19 million residents. Osaka includes features the National Bunraku Theatre, where audiences enjoy bunraku or traditional puppet plays. Travelers who are fond of sea life can take in the Osaka Aquarium Kaiyukan found in Osaka Bay. Next door is the Tempozan Ferris Wheel.
