11Sacred Heart Basilica Of Montmartre
The Sacred Heart towers high over the city. More an ivory castle than a traditional basilica, it overlooks the unique neighborhood named Montmartre. Here, where the city’s bohemian crowd once hung their berets, this fine example of Roman-Byzantine architecture is immediately identified by its beautiful white domes.
While it appeared to be sun-bleached on the outside, its interior is reputedly quite a sight to see. You’ll marvel at the beautiful, glittering ceilings complete with the country’s biggest mosaic. It features Jesus Christ, Joan of Arc, and the Virgin Mary. Admission is free.
