Check Out The High Line

The locals don’t agree on much but they do love their High Line. The High Line Park is one of their fave public projects. Once an abandoned train trestle, it was converted into an elevated green space. This 30-foot area opened in 2009. This park spans almost 1.5 miles from the Meatpacking District–which is right next to the popular Whitney Museum of American Art–to a high-rise development being finalized at Hudson Yards. Take in the overlooks, the public art installations, and landscaped lawns and gardens.

Visit The National September 11 Memorial And Museum

See how the former World Trade Center has been reinvented since that infamous day in 2001. Opened in 2011, the National September 11 Memorial replaces the empty space of the original Twin Towers with a pair of reflecting waterfall-fed pools. There are also memorial walls that list the names of 9/11 victims. The neighboring National September 11 Memorial Museum opened in 2014 presents visitors with the facts, impact, and import of that fateful day via archives, historical artifacts, oral histories, and multimedia displays.
