No one ever equates an “island escape” with a place in the northern Netherlands. Nevertheless, Texel is highlighted by pristine white-sand beaches, rolling dunes and a lot of open grassland. It also features the expected, iconic windmills and tulips too. It’s nice for birdwatching and the flat terrain is not only great for the sheep but also for bicycling. Finally, don’t go home without sampling their popular cheese.
