Experienced explorers agree that some of the best wilderness in the US “has no trail at all.”  So don your swim trunks and grab a paddle, water wizards.  Here are the 11 best, wild scenic river trips in America:

1.  The Klamath River, California

The 286-mile-long Klamath River has an exceptional upper section that is perfect for a family-friendly river trip.  It has bald eagles, exciting rapids, warm water, and waterfront camps.

The river flows with Class IV power out of Oregon.  If you’re looking for an introductory rafting run this then check out the 1981-designated Lower K trip.  Put in from April to August at Sluice Box.  This 20-mile trip to Happy Creek comes complete with jumping rocks, riffles, and Class II and III whitewater areas perfect for the kids.

  1. Hi!
I am unsure which picture you are referring to but t should coincide with the accompanying article entry. At any rate, thanks for the comment and for your support!

  2. That picture in the hot springs next to the river was taken in Colorado. I visited there last summer (2021) after remembering a trip there with my mom in in my 20’s!

It was very memorable! I can’t remember the town. Look up “hot springs in Colorado”
They’ve added several pools there and hotel rooms!

  3. Hi!
If you are referring to the pictures in the collage, you could be right. To be honest, I have not been to Colorado for several years now. I have to say it is still amazing to me how you can start a trip in one state and before you know it you’ve been in a couple of others! Still, that’s part of what makes it fun! Did you ever go to The Four Corner States and stand in four states at once?
    Thanks for your support!
