Yellowstone National Park 

Yellowstone should be on everyone’s list. However, visiting during the months of April and May has its advantages. For it is at this time of the year that the snowmelt begins, beautiful wildflowers grow again, and baby bison are born.  

You will also find it easier to locate a parking space and it’s too early for the summer crowds! Mind you, during the month of April, some of the roads and even accommodations are not open. So enter the park via the north/northeast entrance and book a hotel room nearby.  

In May, all the roads are open. All lodgings are available as well. You can use any entrance you choose. You can stay inside the park too. Your choices here include the Old Faithful Inn, Mammoth Hot Springs, and Canyon Village. The restaurants are also open.

Bryce Canyon National Park

Utah’s Bryce Canyon National Park is famous for its thousands of sandstone pillars known as hoodoos. They evoke an alien-like atmosphere that makes a truly memorable first impression. While this park is open year-round, it’s snowy and too cold for anyone not interested in winter vacations.

Biscayne National Park 

This park, 63 miles from Ft. Lauderdale International Airport, is yet another reason to visit Florida in the Spring. Here you can escape the chill still hanging in the air elsewhere, and spend your time boating, snorkeling, or swimming in the comparatively warm water. Although it is open all year, in the spring weather is neither too hot nor too cold.

The average temperature ranges from 66 degrees Fahrenheit to 77 degrees Fahrenheit. Be sure to visit the popular Boca Chita Key. It’s one of the park’s official “most visited places.”

Hike to the lovely lighthouse there. Hike the trail there and explore the scenery on this island too. You can also take a boat tour and do a little snorkeling around the world’s third-largest barrier reef there too. Admission to the park is free.

Capitol Reef

Hawaii Volcanoes National Park

It’s a popular UNESCO Biosphere Reserve and is highlighted by a pair of active shield volcanoes. They are the Kilauea, and the largest volcano in the world, the Mauna Loa.

Zion National Park

Beautiful Zion National Park in Southern Utah is yet another one of the best parks to see in the Spring. Springtime’s also the best time to see the sunrise here. Winter weather obscures the beauty. In the summer, sunrise is so early you have to head out way too early to reach the best viewpoints to see it.

Death Valley

Joshua Tree National Park

The park spans an area of almost 600,000 acres of wilderness, straddles two California deserts, and includes 300 miles of hiking trails. Veteran visitors can confirm springtime is the best time to visit this International Dark Sky Park. Unlike summertime, the spring weather is never higher than 72 degrees Fahrenheit and never cooler than 48 degrees Fahrenheit.  

Plus, you avoid the summer tourist crowds. There will be less competition for spots in the daily ranger programs. There are also fewer four-wheel drive vehicles off-roading on the numerous backcountry trails.  

There are fewer rock climbers and birders in the park in springtime too. Newbies may want to use the north entrance found in Twentynine Palms. If you want to see the Milky Way here, consider camping here for a weekend.

Great Smoky Mountains National Park

The popular Great Smoky Mountains National Park straddles the two states of North Carolina and Tennessee deep within the majestic Blue Ridge Mountains. It’s reported to be America’s most popular national park. Over 14 million people visited this place back in 2021.

Spring is a great time to visit this park. The weather is cooler, the crowds are comparatively smaller, and the beautiful rhododendron and mountain laurels are starting to bloom. From the middle of May to early June, the Cataloochee Valley Elk give birth. Arches National Park

Shenandoah National Park

Saguaro National Park

Arizona’s Saguaro National Park is a great place to be from March through April. The desert is sunny with an average daily temperature range between 75 and 83 degrees Fahrenheit. It is unique in that it is a national park that has two individualistic areas that are roughly a one-hour drive apart.

Black Canyon Of The Gunnison National Park

You’ll find this national park near Gunnison and Montrose. It is named for the darkness of its sheer gorge walls that rise more than 2,703 feet above the floor of the canyon. Over 430,000 travelers come here annually.

They come to witness the results of millions of years of erosion by the rushing Gunnison River and learn of prehistoric life via the multiple layers of sediment and rock. They also come here to see indigenous plants, elks, moose, and mountain lions.

Hike To An Alpine Teahouse

Some of the hiking trails in the park include alpine teahouses that you will see along the way. This provides visitors with yet another fun and unique experience. For those not in the know, an alpine teahouse is a small cabin on a hiking trail that offers hikers various snacks and tea that’s actually made from real local glacial water.

They generally serve sandwiches, cookies, and, of course, tea. So you’re getting a little taste of the park by stopping here. There are two hiking trails in the park that include teahouses.  

They are Plain of Six Glaciers and Lake Agnes. Visit in the summer though because that’s the only time they are open for business. They don’t have electricity and only accept cash. So be sure to have some Canadian currency on you.

If you really want to treat yourself, enjoy brunch at the Chateau Lake Louise’s restaurant, the Poppy Brasserie. Get there early and get a table overlooking the lake. Those in the know say the view alone is worth the price of the meal.

The eatery’s extensive menu here offers dishes for both omnivores and vegetarians. They offer both an a-la-carte menu and a buffet. You need to remember though that the restaurant prioritizes seating guests of the hotel.  

So, if you go there on an especially crowded day, you will probably have to wait a bit. The doors open at 6:30 a.m., so if you get there early you have a pretty good chance of being seated quickly if you arrive before the others even wake up.

Hit The Slopes

If you’re a skier, Banff is the place to be in the winter. Indeed, it’s also a hot spot for snowboarders, and all the other winter sports fans. Banff National Park is home to a trio of world-famous ski resorts.

They are Lake Louise, Mt. Norquay, and Sunshine Meadows. If you’re a hardcore skier and plan to spend your entire visit skiing, look into getting a Big 3 Lift Ticket. You’ll get access to all of the park’s ski resorts.  

Additionally, you’ll be able to ride the shuttle from almost every major hotel in Banff to the resorts. This is a kid-friendly, easy, 0.4-mile, heavily trafficked hiking trail. It is uniquely located and thus a favorite of families who hike here. It takes you directly to an impressive arch tucked away in a sleek slot canyon.  

Indeed, both the arch itself and the surrounding area is coated with this incredibly smooth sand. In fact, the sand is so smooth it would make some beaches on the planet envious. The entire area is also shaded so that’s another plus. It’s a nice place to cool off and catch your breath before hiking in more challenging areas of the park.

Delicate Arch Upper Viewpoint Hike

This hike is ideal for anyone who wants to see the park’s most famous arch without actually hiking to it. This viewpoint will give you a look at it. The trail is only half a mile long, but it’s uneven, rocky, a little steep, and there is no shade.   

The experts note that for its length it is still “fairly strenuous.” Some also say that there’s not a significant difference between the view from the Upper Viewpoint and the view from the popular Delicate Arch Lower Viewpoint, which is just a 100-yard stroll on a paved path from the parking area. So, if you don’t like this uneven, rocky climb, short as it is, don’t stress it.

The Delicate Arch Hike

Hiking to Delicate Arch is not an easy feat. Some veteran visitors say completing this difficult hike on a windy day makes it even harder. It’s three miles long and has an elevation of 480 feet. There’s not a lot of shade here either.  

The hike not only includes a steep climb up a hill of loose sandstone, but also a narrow section with a high wall on one side and a drop on the other. As you approach the end of the hike, you’ll see another arch to your left. It’s called the Twisted Doughnut Arch. Climb and look through it to get a perfect view of Delicate Arch.

The Park Avenue Hike

It doesn’t include an arch, but stunning Park Avenue is still well worth the visit. The hike is between one and two miles depending on how you plan your adventure. Those in the know suggest beginning the hike at the top and hiking towards the well-known Courthouse Towers since the views as you descend are exceptional. The National Park Service suggests if you decide to hike back up to your vehicle, that you stick to the trail and avoid the actual road. On the other hand, if you arrange to be picked up at the trail’s end, it’s just one easy downhill mile.

The Broken Arch Hike

Just to clarify, the famous Broken Arch isn’t broken. It’s just cracked. It’s just an easy, 1.3-mile hike across an open field to see it too.  

You’ll also be able to enjoy great views of the lovely La Sal Mountains. You should actually climb through the arch for the very best views. You can combine this tiny trek with that of Sand Dune Arch too since they both use the same trailhead.

The Landscape Arch Hike

Impressive Landscape Arch is 306 feet in length and (in some spots) only seven feet wide. It’s one of the most popular arches in the park. This easy 1.6-mile-long hike to the arch is along a packed trail. Mind you, if you have the time there are a couple of potential side trips you can make here as well. As this is being written, this arch is behind a fence in order to preserve and protect it.

 The Pine Tree Arch Hike

If you don’t have a lot of time, you can see Pine Tree Arch on a short, solo hike or include it as a side trip when you visit Landscape Arch. Check out the desert view through its center! If you have time for another short detour, go see Tunnel Arch too. (Take the fairly easy one-mile trail to see Pine Tree Arch as a fast standalone hike, if need be.

The Navajo Arch And Partition Arch Hike

A lot of hikers combine hiking to this pair of arches with a hike around the Devils Garden, as they’re found past Landscape Arch but before the Double O Arch. Even if you are not up to hiking all the way to Double O, it’s worth the effort to go past Landscape Arch to see Navajo Arch and Partition Arch. You can see all three arches in three miles. It’s not an easy trek and there is some rock scrambling involved.

The Double O Arch Hike

Some claim that the rugged beauty of this arch is almost overshadowed by the hike itself. The trail here, especially the section between Double O Arch and Landscape Arch, is both memorable and invigorating. It features fantastic views of the La Sal Mountains and the surrounding area. The journey to and from Double O Arch is over four miles, and you will be hiking along high ledges, and doing a bit of rock scrambling too.

The Fiery Furnace Hike

This is a unique hike. You can only complete it with a permit or on a ranger-led hike. While exploring this natural maze of slot canyons and rugged rock fins is fun, this is a difficult hike.

The ranger-led hike is 2 miles long and takes approximately three hours from start to finish. Keep in mind that you’ll need to use both your hands and your feet to navigate the canyons and be okay with tight spaces in order to master this maze. Don’t be confused by its name though, as this place gets significantly more shade than most of the trails here and is thus literally one of the coolest hikes here.

The Devils Garden Trail

This trail, plus the optional section of the popular Primitive Trail, which might include a detour to Private Arch, is the Park’s longest. Several arches listed here can be found on the Devils Garden trail, including Pine Tree Arch, Navajo Arch, Landscape Arch, and Double O Arch. Indeed, if you decide to hike the entire trail, including all the optional side trips, you will see a total of seven arches.  

This complete 7.2-mile hike includes sun exposure, some ledges, and some rock scrambling too. None of these hikes specifically require any special equipment or expert technical knowledge. Still, you will need to remember to pack the essentials and follow all the hiking tips you would need on any other hike!

1. Shenandoah National Park, Virginia

If you like Virginia, the Shenandoah National Park spans an area of nearly 80 thousand acres including part of the rugged Blue Ridge Mountains. If you’re going to stick to your car, the main park road is the popular 105-mile-long Skyline Drive. You can see much of the mountainous ridgeline there.

Expansive Shenandoah National Park features more than 100 miles of countryside. And as fall approaches, the foliage across the land turns sharp shades of orange, red, and yellow. Sources differ as to the best time to check out the fall foliage.  

Some say you can see changes in the colors as early as September. Other sources note that the leaves at the higher elevations do not even begin to change until early October. By the middle of October, the numerous colors have made their way down the hills and into the verdant valleys.

In late October the hilltops go brown. Luckily, this park has a special “fall color webcam” that allows people to watch the leaves change color weekly during the peak of the season. That can help you plan your visit too.

The Great Smoky Mountains National Park, North Carolina, And Tennessee

The Great Smoky Mountains National Park includes 522,419 acres in the states of Tennessee and North Carolina. It is thus named because the property straddles the Great Smoky Mountains’ ridgeline, a section of the Blue Ridge Mountains, and a part of the Appalachian Mountains. The best time to see the fall foliage here is from the middle of October into early November.

Veteran visitors say that you will take in the very best views of the 4,000+ miles of fall foliage here at the mid and lower-level elevations. It is here that the leaves of more than 100 species of trees, including scarlet oak, sugar maple, and sweetgum trees, reach their pretty peak. Witness as the green changes to orange, red, yellow, and even purple.

Yosemite National Park, California

The Golden State’s Yosemite National Park is nigh-famous for such waterfalls as Bridalveil, Nevada, and Vernal. Ah, but it spans an area of 759,620 acres so there’s a lot more to see here than waterfalls. Indeed, in 2016 the park set an official visitation record, with more than five million visitors. Just so you know, a number of them came here to enjoy the fall foliage.

Be sure to check on the park’s website though before you visit because the park began to require reservations to tour the park during peak periods back in 2020.

Olympic National Park, Washington

This popular park includes 922,650 acres. It contains four different areas. They are the alpine areas, the forests of the east side, the Pacific coastline, and the west side’s rainforest.

Fans of fall foliage say that by the middle of October the trees here are usually coated with the usual moss and, more importantly, covered with a multi-colored mix of orange, yellow, and red leaves. They also note that the process starts in the middle of September at the higher elevations along the Pacific coastline.

Hot Springs National Park, Arkansas

Regular readers may already know that the popular adjacent to the city of the same name in central Garland County is famous for its hot springs and is a great place to go camping and hiking as well. What may not be as well-known is this 5,550-acre hotspot is one of the best national parks for fall foliage too.

To help you make your plans, it is important to know that the leaves in the northern part of the state change color by early October. Anywhere else in the state, including the central region where you’ll find this particular park, they change between the end of October into November. So plan your next visit accordingly.

Grand Teton National Park, Wyoming

You will find this national park deep in the heart of Jackson. This park encompasses an area of 310,000 acres. It offers visitors some stunning mountain landscapes and a lovely lakefront view too.  

Leaf lovers should visit sometime between early September through the middle of October. The park’s elevation influences when the colors change. Mind you, the weather here also significantly impacts the foliage.  

The temperatures tend to drop sooner, and this spurs the change of colors in the foliage. Indeed, when it rains too heavily or the temperatures drop too low, the colors are less vibrant or are knocked off the trees too soon. Generally, the trees thrive in ample sunlight and mild temperatures. Under ideal conditions, entire groves change simultaneously. You will see various shades of gold, orange, red, and yellow.

Congaree National Park, South Carolina

You could paddle a boat around Cedar Creek in the fall or visit South Carolina’s contribution to the best national parks for fall foliage. This national park spans a space of almost 26, 693 acres. It can be found 18 miles southeast of Columbia, the state capital. 

This park actually preserves the biggest swathe of official “old growth bottomland hardwood forest” still remaining in the US. The trees growing in its lush floodplain forest are reported to be some of eastern America’s tallest too. They form what is known as one of the world’s “highest temperate deciduous forest canopies” on the planet. The best time to see the golden yellow tints here is from the end of October ‘til early November.

Capitol Reef National Park, Utah

Established in 1971, this national park is roughly 60 miles in length and as narrow as six miles in width. It features 241,904 acres of desert landscape. Although it is open year-round, most tourists come here from May through September. Luckily, the leaves here do not begin to change to a golden orange until sometime in late September. The transformation comes to an end around Halloween. Hardcore foliage fans say the best time to do some leaf peeping here is in early October.

Cuyahoga Valley National Park, Ohio

This 32,572-acre park is located along the Cuyahoga River between Cleveland and Akron. Here the best time to leaf peep is during October’s third week. Once the temperatures fall and daylight decreases, the frost covers the leaves and, as winter approaches, the fall foliage decreases significantly.

Those in the know suggest hiking to Brandywine Falls via the Brandywine Gorge Trail. The best place to photograph the foliage here is in the late afternoon. Do you need more? Hike the Ledges Trails and check out the views overlooking the valley. Other exceptional options include Indigo Lake, the Oak Hill Trail, the Octagon Shelter access road, and Pine Hollow.

Glacier National Park, Montana

Glacier National Park is situated on the border between the USA and Canada. It covers an area of over one million acres. There are over 1,000 different species of healthy plants here so you know this has to be one of the best national parks for fall foliage. Indeed, there is more than one peak fall foliage period here in this 1500+-square mile park.  

Here there are two “falls” per year. Two groups of trees change color at two different times. The lower elevation aspen and cottonwood trees, often found along the river, turn yellow and orange-gold in the middle of September. In the middle of October, the Tamarack or western larch trees turn to gold before dropping their needles.

Wrangell-St. Elias National Park And Preserve, Alaska

Yes, it’s true. Even the coldest places in the US can experience changes in the foliage. This park and preserve nestled in south-central Alaska near Copper Center were founded in 1980.  

This state park and preserve include an expansive 13,175,799+ acres. In fact, it is actually larger than nine states in the US. It is open all year, with most of the various facilities being open from May to September.  

The best time to see the leaves turn color here is from late August to early September. Feeling energetic? You can also go camping, hiking, hunting, kayaking, mountain biking, mountain climbing, and trapping here too. Just be sure to get all the correct permits and paperwork ahead of time!

Yellowstone National Park, Wyoming, Montana, And Idaho

This national park is so large it stretches across three states: Idaho, Montana, and Wyoming. It has an area of more than 3,500 square miles. It is also the country’s oldest national park and even inspired Yogi Bear’s famous Jellystone Park. 

Yellowstone is famous for being the home of the nigh-iconic geyser Old Faithful, and the Grand Prismatic Hot Spring. Ah, but even though it does not have as many trees as other national parks, the numerous shrubs and even the grassland takes on a gorgeous golden hue yearly. Indeed, if you wish to witness this occurrence, your best bet is to visit from the final week of September through the first week of October.

Rocky Mountain National Park, Colorado

Famous Rocky Mountain National Park is in the north-central portion of the state in the Rocky Mountains’ Front Range. More specifically, this scenic park is located between the towns of Grandt Lake and Este Park. It encompasses 265,461 acres.

If you have come to enjoy the beautiful fall foliage at a high altitude, this is a great place to do it. Here you will discover more than 415 square miles of shrubs and aspen trees that slowly turn golden yellow, orange, scarlet, and brown prior to the first snowfall.

The Acadia National Park is located mainly on popular Mount Desert Island. The park is actually a unique blend of seaside villages, parkland, and private property. This national park has quite a lot to offer visitors due in part to the fact that it includes both the mountains and the sea. 

You will also find beautiful beaches, campgrounds, and 100-plus miles of popular hiking trails. Fall aficionados should visit the first half of October. The change of colorful contrast of the hardwoods’ leaves with the dark, lush evergreens and the blue of the sea is striking.  

Drive your car from the Hulls Cove Visitor Center along the 27-mile loop road and stop at some of the overlooks and viewpoints there. Get a closer look by hiking the park’s historic rustic carriage roads.

About 80 miles south of Seattle, is the snow-capped dormant volcano known as Mount Rainier. The corresponding park includes 236,381 acres and features forests, lava fields, waterfalls, and even glaciers. The leaves here begin to change in September.

A great place to see the multi-colored trees, shrubs, and plants is Reflection Lakes on Stevens Canyon Road. On a clear day, the reflecting colors are positively vibrant. If you’re feeling athletic, hike the Skyline Loop Trail. Are you a hiking enthusiast? If you’re in the US, head for the state of Utah. Southwestern Utah is the home of the red rock landscape known as Zion National Park. It is here you can hike the narrowest section of the park known as The Narrows.

There are hikes for all ages and experience levels at Zion Canyon National Park. The most well-known hike here, however, is The Narrows. Experts note it is one of the top 10 hikes on Earth.

Best Time To Hike The Narrows

Experts confirm that the best time to hike the famous Narrows is sometime between late spring and late summer. This is when the water temperature is warmer and the level is lower (providing there’ve been no recent storms). Fall could work too but the water’s chilly and days are shorter.

Three Ways To Hike The Narrows

1. Bottom-up Zion Narrows Day Hike

90 percent of hikers polled prefer this choice. This hike is rated “easy to moderate.” It will take you between two and six hours round trip to complete. 

You begin at the Temple of Sinawava and the popular Riverside Walk and hike almost seven miles to the well-known Wall Street portion of the canyon. However, getting there requires you to hike four miles along or even in the Virgin River. So be prepared to get wet!  

Once you pass Orderville Canyon, Wall Street isn’t far away! The Riverside Walk is mainly flat and the elevation is gradual. The most challenging part is when you start hiking upstream on slippery rocks.

2. Top-Down Zion Narrows Day Hike

This 16-mile backpacking route is rated “moderate to strenuous.” One way, it will take between seven and 12 hours to complete. The adventure begins at Chamberlain’s Ranch which is found 1.5 hours from the park’s visitor center and ends at the previously-mentioned Riverside Walk. 

The first five miles here take you through the Upper Narrows. Eat something and rest at Deep Creek. Then head for your campsite (if staying overnight) and beautiful Big Springs. This option requires wilderness permits for every hiker. You can get them online or at the park’s visitor’s center.

3. Top-down Zion Narrows Overnight Backpacking Trip

This trip follows the same route as the previous one. Since you’re completing it in two days it is a little less strenuous and will take between seven and 12 hours, the one way. Rather than hike all 16 miles in one day, you set up camp after reaching Deer Creek.

Hiking Supplies

You will need a pair of waterproof hiking boots or canyoneering boots with good ankle support. You should be able to drain the water out of them quickly. Neoprene socks are more comfortable in the water.

• Trekking poles or a hiking stick will help you hike on the uneven, wet terrain.  
• Bring a jacket as an extra layer. The water and high canyon walls create slightly cooler conditions.  
• Take sunscreen. Even if you start as early as possible, you will eventually be hiking in the sun. Pack it with your First Aid Kit. Pack it all in a waterproof bag.
• You will also need at least one gallon of water per hiker each day and appropriate snacks. (Don’t forget camping supplies if you spend the night.)

Hiking Tips 

• Avoid wearing anything cotton since being in the cool water can cause your body to lose heat faster than it can produce it. Wear clothing made of synthetic fibers or even wool.
•  Eat high-energy food along with the water.  
• Check the weather report before you go. If the National Weather Service issues a flash flood warning or the Spring flow rate is too high, The Narrows will close. You don’t want to get to the trailhead and find out the trail’s closed.
• Don’t think you can avoid getting wet. You can’t. While there are portions of the trail that are actually on the shore, generally within the first two miles, you will be in the water.  
• Don’t bring anything you don’t want to get wet. Make sure your phone has a waterproof case if you must bring it. A GoPro with a waterproof case is also good but leave your DSLR camera at home.  
• Don’t jump! Yes, it might sound stupid but authorities report that the most common injuries are reportedly lower leg fractures caused by jumping from rocks.  
• Don’t Stop! Hiking the Narrows is not only the most popular hike but it is also the busiest; at least it might seem that way. Keep going though as not everyone who visits benefits from the veteran advice of your rovin’ writer.  
• Many people don’t take shorter preparatory hikes prior to taking this trek and turn back within the first two miles. Once you hit your stride–and mile three–you and your hiking buddy could have the trail all to yourself. Many tourists are not hikers.  
• Follow the “Leave No Trace” outdoor ethics. Pack out all your waste. Leave no trace of your presence, so everyone can continue to enjoy the area. If you need a refresher, check with your local Scout troop or review the principles online.
• You will find only one restroom here. It is located at the park’s Temple of Sinawava shuttle stop. Be sure to make use of it prior to beginning your hike.
• If you are ambitious enough to want to hike the entire trail, good for you! However, don’t forget that you will need a permit to do so. The price is $15.00 per person and $20.00 each for a hiking party of three to seven hikers.
• As this goes to press, no one is permitted to drive on the actual road that leads to the trailhead. Only shuttle buses are allowed here. Privately-owned vehicles are not permitted in this park when a shuttle bus is running.

Canyonlands National Park, Utah

Canyonlands National Park in Moab is the state’s largest national park. It’s divided into three sections: the popular, panoramic Island in the sky, the colorful Needles district, and the “no man’s land” known as the Maze. Veteran visitors say the panoramic views and scarlet rocks are even more striking under a blanket of white, virgin snow.

The El Capitan also includes the Half Dome, giant sequoias, glaciers, and the 2,140-foot Snow Creek Falls as well. It is truly a natural winter wonderland.

Bryce Canyon National Park, Utah

The best time to visit this park is actually from the month of December through February. This park is in reality a number of natural amphitheaters. They are located approximately one mile up and are only referred to as a “canyon” for advertising purposes. Some travel writers say that this place is actually more attractive during the winter months when the striking orange of the park is offset by the glistening snow.All four major viewpoints–Bryce Point, Inspiration Point, Sunrise Point, and Sunset Point offer visitors magnificent views.

By leaving no trace of your visit you are doing your best to make sure that the park remains as pristine as when you arrived.

Let’s be honest; park rangers get paid good money. They are there to help you make the most of your visit and to avoid any potential issues. If you have any concerns or questions or even need recommendations of some sort, consult the park rangers there for proper guidance. Park rangers can be sure that you are up to date on such important topics as closures within the park and even tell you the best places to see specific kinds of wildlife. 

7.  Do Take A Lot Of Photos

Take a lot of photographs. Take as many as you want. In fact, not only are pictures the best souvenir but taking photos is perhaps the safest way to get up close to wildlife. Additionally, if you simply must have physical proof of your visit this will also make you feel less likely to be tempted to collect flowers, rocks, stones, shells, or any small living creatures. 8.  Don’t Make A Lot Of Noise

10.  Don’t Take Park Property Home

As noted in an earlier rule, you should not take home any flowers, plants, rocks, shells, stones, or any living creature with you when you leave. They are not souvenirs. While it might seem fairly harmless for you to take home one shell or rock, you must imagine if all the millions of visitors who come to these parks would do that.
