This Instagramable French château is ensconced in a gorgeous garden designed by Andre Le Nôtre of Tuileries and Versailles fame. Bonn, Germany

Once the capital city, Bonn is more than numerous castles, museums, and the birthplace of Beethoven. Its big draw is actually the scenery. Specifically, Breite Strasse and the Heerstrasse. Picturesque Breite Strasse is not far from the center of town and is actually parallel to the more popular tHeerstrasse and is reportedly less crowded.

Heerstrasse attracts more tourists and is known to many as Cherry Blossom Avenue. Here you will find cherry trees lining this residential street on both sides. These trees provide an attractive pink canopy that draws thousands of visitors here. During the recent pandemic, the street was closed specifically to avoid crowds.

Osaka, Japan

Osaka is the home of Osaka Castle which harkens back to 1597. More specifically, there is a wonderful park directly in front of it that features 4,000 cherry trees. When they are in bloom, you can get a great shot of them with the castle visible in the background.  

Other cherry blossom hotspots include Kema Sakuranomiya Park–home to 5,000 trees–, the world-renown Expo 70 Commemorative Park, Tsurumi Riyokushi Park, and the Osaka Mint Bureau.

The Jerte Valley, Spain

Hoping to see thousands of cherry trees in bloom? Visit the beautiful Jerte Valley ensconced in central Spain, approximately three hours out of the capital. This unique valley is the highlight of the country’s cherry-growing region.

London, England

Travel to this capital city in Spring and you will be surprised at how many places you can see cherry blossoms. Stroll and picnic ‘neath a pink roof in Greenwich Park, Kew Gardens, Regent’s Park, and Kyoto Park located in Holland Gardens.  

There are also distinctive scenic spots where the trees are few but make the area stand out such as in front of famous St. Paul’s Cathedral; on Blithfield Street in Kensington and Redcliffe Road in Chelsea. Stop at Cecile Park in Crouch End; and the wonderful white trees along the roads of Winterbrook Road and Stradella Road in Herne Hill.

Stockholm, Sweden

The capital of Sweden actually is a great place to grow cherry trees. The best place to see them here is Kungsträdgården (the King’s Garden). It’s reportedly the oldest public garden that plays host to the yearly Japanese Festival.

There are at least 63 trees planted here. When they blossom, the place explodes in pink and tempts the tourists. There are some less famous, little spots as well. See little Bysistorget, situated amidst shops. Cafes, and some nearby Bonsai trees that provide a Japanese experience.

Do not miss Vancouver’s popular annual Cherry Blossom Festival. You will discover several species of cherry blossoms on display. Start with famed Queen Elizabeth Park and VanDusen Botanical Gardens. Next, see Stanley Park, which is highlighted by a good variety of colorful spring flowers, and Burrard SkyTrain station is also a favorite spot to see cherry blossoms and experience other special festivities during the popular Cherry Blossom Festival.

Amsterdam, Netherlands

Yes, this is the place for lovers to see terrific tulips in Keukenhof, 25 miles outside of Amsterdam. However, if you arrive in early April, you can participate in the well-known Amsterdam Tulip Festival and the lesser-known Amsterdam Cherry Blossom Festival as well.

Check out the 400 white cherry trees ensconced in memorable Kersenbloesempark (a.k.a. Bloesempark) In fact, if you are a fan of white cherry blossoms then stop at Westerpark. You will find more pink blossoms running along the Amstel Canal near the renowned Japanese Okura Hotel.

Last but certainly not least is this special entry. Should you miss the beloved cherry blossom season in the northern hemisphere, you have another chance at it in September when the desired season begins here. Head to Auckland’s noteworthy Cornwall Park situated in Epsom.
