It has been awhile since I read about it but that sounds right to me. There was an accident. They shut down/closed the ride, reopened then closed. Last I heard–and it was awhile ago– they were turning into an amateur athletic park. Thanks for your support!

I tried to get newspaper article but they want money. The link to Wikipedia about this Schlitterbahn water park. There is more information about what happened to that 10 year old boy on 8-7-16. The park did reopen 3 days later. Ride was shut down. The park closed down in Sept 2018.

Yes. There was an accident and it was closed. Then it was reopened. Much more recently, it was closed again.
They have plans to convert the property to an amateur sports complex. Now we are all up to date. Thanks for your comment and reading this older article. Hopefully, you will read the other articles here as well!

The KC Schilterbahn was closed after the accident where a child was decapitated. It was reopened only to be permanently closed and has been torn down. It should never have been allowed to open as their safety protocols were weak. It’s very unfortunate a child had to die before this was realized.

The park is still open, they shut down the ride and possibly removed it. Shlitterbahn Kansas City. A kid was decapitated.
