55. Horseshoe Lake, US

Horseshoe Lake is situated in the eastern section of the popular Lassen Volcanic National Park close to Juniper Lake in Shasta County, California. The numerous fissures within the bottom of this lake emit a significant amount of carbon dioxide which is deadly to practically everything. This lake has caused the death of at least four people as this goes to press. It has also killed the trees that once grew on the 100+ acres surrounding it. Warning signs are posted all over the property.
